THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Student Federation of India (SFI) has appealed the authorities concerned to withdraw the decision to prepone the reporting time for candidates appearing to UGC NET examination.
SFI All India president V P Sanu said the decision to reschedule the reporting time to 7 am from the existing 9 am amounted to cheating of a good number of students who would be unable to reach on time at the examination centres located at interior places.
"The move is ploy to bring down the number of candidates appearing for the examination. Such moves should be opposed. If the authorities fail to roll back their decision, the SFI would be forced to lead agitations, he said.
The SFI state preisident Jaik C Thomas and secretary M Vijin have also termed the rescheduling of NET examination timing as unscientific.
"The decision to reschedule the reporting time for UGC NET examination from the existing 9 am to 7 am should be withdrawn. It will be difficult for students to reach the examination centres at 7 am, especially if the exam centres are located at remote areas. The unscientific rescheduling of the examination timing would lead to the loss of opportunity to lot many students. "Such decisions are being introduced with ulterior motives. The changes brought in with an eye on financial gains will be objected. The SFI would lead student agitation against the UGC decision, if the commission fails to withdraw its own decision", SFI state president Jaik P Thomas said.
